LKPoole,
otherwise known as Renie began taking pictures with a Kodak Brownie
box camera when she was about 10 years old. She quickly became fascinated
with the ability to capture moments in time and share them with friends. She has
studied through community based classes and weekend photo workshops, but most of
her skills come from continued reading, research, and experimentation.
She grew up within a family of photographers, both hobbyists and
professionals. After spending some time learning darkroom techniques
and printing Cibachrome images, Renie discovered the joy of having total control of
her photographs. She no longer needed to depend on a lab trying to
interpret her vision.
In the mid-90's Renie started scanning photos and printing them with an inkjet printer. At
that time, the print quality available using home computers, scanners, and printers left
a lot to be desired. Fortunately, the manufacturers were listening to the
photographers and today it is possible to digitally print a large, high quality image from film or digital cameras that
will last as long as traditional film printing. In 1998 she started using a
digital camera and fell in love with the instant feedback. The ability to quickly see
the effect of a change of aperture or framing made spending time behind the
camera worthwhile as well as fun.
The technology of digital photography and printing continues to rapidly evolve. It has now enabled the artist to not only capture the image
as she sees it but to also create prints that truly reflect her vision. Renie
has now moved exclusively to digital photography. She currently uses Epson pigment printers for creating photo quality images from digital files.
Renie's
photography has won several awards including 1st Place in the recent (2007) Cecil County Foods photography contest sponsored by the Cecil County Historical
Society and the Cecil County Arts Council, in conjunction with the Smithsonian traveling exhibit “Key Ingredients: America by Food”.
Other awards include 1st Place - Digital Division 2002 Open Photography Show - Cecil County Arts Council.
Her work has been shown at the Cecil County Arts Council main gallery as well as
their gallery in Chesapeake City, local studio tours, and other local shows.
As her photography has become better known and her business has grown, the business became known as LKPhoto, the photographic
division of Welch Point Associates, a web design and consulting firm. Renie's photography has been an integral part of approximately
60 web sites designed by Welch Point Associates and/or Reeves Digital Development.
